NC11 and URJ Camps

by Beth Kanofsky
Assistant Director, URJ Camp Harlam

Throughout the year, URJ Camp Harlam is home to two NFTY regions, NFTY-PAR and NFTY-GER. This week, I have been lucky to be at NFTY’s home in Dallas: NFTY Convention and Youth Workers Conference.

Harlamites at Cowboys Stadium

On Thursday, I met many of the NFTY Convention participants upon their arrival at DFW. As each and every flight from the northeast landed, I was excited to see Harlamites walking off the plane.

Over 70 NFTYites, youth workers, and URJ staff members who have attended and worked at Camp Harlam are here in Dallas. Everyone brought the same enthusiasm and ruach with them as they bring to camp, and I feel lucky to share this experience with them.

The same way campers countdown to camp every year, NFTYites have been counting down to NFTY Convention (some for two years!). As an alumni of URJ Camp Harlam, URJ Kutz Camp, and NFTY-GER, I know about the intense connection between NFTY and our 13 URJ Camps.

Our programs share the same goal of engaging Reform Jewish youth and helping them develop their Jewish identities. Through the URJ Camps, NFTY, and Israel programs we are able to provide opportunities at all levels of development. All 13 URJ Camps were able to join NFTY for Convention this week, which has been an incredible experience!
