Constitutional Selection of NFTY Study Theme and Action Theme for 2011-2012 Academic Year

  • NFTY Study Theme – “Im Ein Ani Li Mi Li” – If I Am Not for Myself, Who Will Be For Me?
    NFTY Studies the Power of Personal Expression
  • NFTY Action Theme – “Mishpacha: Family – How does NFTY fit into our greater community?
    NFTY Addresses Human Divides

Additional pieces of new business adopted include:

  • Recommendation to raise awareness about Conflict Minerals
  • Recommendation regarding the creation of Avi Schaefer Shalom V’Rodfehu Award, for excellence in Israel programming in NFTY Regions
  • Resolution awarding NFTY Life Membership to Rabbi Michael Mellen

Announcement of the 2010-2011 NFTY North American Board

  • Five exceptional teens will assume leadership roles as NFTY’s 73rd North American Board. Their terms will formally begin on June 25, when they are installed at Mechina, which will take place at the URJ Kutz Camp, June 22-26, 2011.

Forrest is the current president of NFTY’s Northern Region (NO) and a member of Temple Israel in Minneapolis, MN. Forrest served NFTY-NO last year as their regional Religious and Cultural Vice President, and participated in the Regional Board Leadership Track at Kutz Camp.

Liza Moskowitz, Programming Vice President-Elect

Liza is the current president of NFTY’s Texas/Oklahoma Region (TOR) and a member of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, TX. Liza is an alumna of The Greene Family Camp, and spent a summer with Garin Greene in Israel.

Avra Bossov, Social Action Vice President-Elect

Avra is the current president of NFTY’s Pennsylvania Area Region (PAR) and a member of Adath Emanu-El in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Avra served NFTY-PAR last year as their regional Social Action Vice President. Avra participated in NFTY in Israel Adventure, and is a Camp Coleman alumna.

Austin Zoot, Religious & Cultural Vice President-Elect

Austin is currently serving in his second term as Religious and Cultural Vice President of NFTY’s Chicago Area Region (CAR). He is a member of Congregation Beth Am in Buffalo Grove, IL. Austin is an alum of Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute, and serves as a guest teen blogger on RJBlog.

Taylor Lyles, Membership & Communications Vice President-Elect

Taylor is the Membership Vice President of NFTY’s Southern Region (SO). She is a member of Temple Sinai in New Orleans, LA, and served previously as the NFTY-SO Regional Secretary. Taylor spent two summers participating in the Regional Board Leadership Track at Kutz, and is an alumna of Jacobs Camp.
