5 Things to Look Forward to at NFTY Convention 2015

NFTY Convention is just one day away, and we could not be more excited to get the festivities underway! Teens from all 19 regions will be joining us, as we prepare for five days of workshops, prayer, making friends, and exploring Atlanta. We want to take a sneak peak at just a few of the highlights you can expect:

Happy children 2.11.151. Shabbat with over 1,300 Reform Jews teens and adults

There is no experience quite like praying with 1,300 of your closest friends. Participants from the NFTY Convention and adults from the Youth Summit will come together Friday night to welcome Shabbat with dinner, services, singing, and more. Get ready for the special moment of coming together for one incredible evening.

2. Incredible moments with incredible speakers

We have a full slate planned of guest speakers, including MA State Senator Eric Lesser, Gun Violence Prevention Advocate Colin Goddard, Disabilities and Special Needs Advocate Matan Koch, and Dr. Francys Johnson, Georgia State President of the NAACP (NFTY is a lifetime member of the NAACP!), and many, many more! Plus, who could forget our very own Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President of the URJ!

3. Day of Learning with BBYO

What’s better than 1,000 Jewish teens coming together? How about over 3,000! BBYO International Convention is also taking place in Atlanta this weekend, and we have the unique opportunity to collaborate for an afternoon of learning. Through workshops taught by the best and brightest in the Jewish world, we will have the opportunity to meet and learn together.

4. Exploring Atlanta

How can we come to one of America’s most beautiful cities without doing some exploring! On Sunday, we will have the opportunity to leave the convention center and go out into the city. We will visit such places as the CNN Center, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and the Georgia State Capitol, to name only a few. We will conclude our day of fun with a visit to the Atlanta Zoo and an exclusive concert from Dan Nichols!

5. NFTY’s 75th Birthday Bash

NFTY is celebrating 75 years of changing lives, culminating in a huge celebration Monday night. During the day, we will have the chance to discuss some of the major issues facing NFTY teens right now, to meet the new North American Board, and to celebrate the NFTY Life Members. We will explore what makes NFTY great, how NFTY got where it is today, and all of the incredible things we can expect from the next 75 years. We will also kick off the celebration of 50 years at the URJ Kutz Camp, NFTY’s Summer Home.

While these are some of the highlights, we can’t pack five days of fun into one blog post! Make sure to stay tuned to all of the excitement going on at #NFTYConvention by checking in on Twitter, Facebook, our blog, and our website! You will not want to miss a minute of the action!
