NFTY-MAR WINTER KALLAH
JANUARY 13-16TH, 2023
AIRFIELD CONFERENCE CENTER, WAKEFIELD, VIRGINIA
REGISTER ONLINE NOW – REGISTRATION CLOSES DECEMBER 21ST
We are SO excited to be bringing a delegation of our congregation’s teens to the upcoming NFTY-MAR Winter Kallah regional event, taking place January 13-16th, 2023 in Wakefield, VA. This event is 4 days and 3 nights of Teen-led programming, bonding, and Judaism. The event will take place at the 4-H Center in Wakefield, VA and is anticipated to have more than 100 Jewish teens from all over the region in attendance. This will be the largest, in-person, NFTY-MAR event since Winter Kallah of 2020. For the first time in three years, the MAR region has the opportunity to come together for a weekend of unforgettable moments, friendships, and more.
In order to make our programming more accessible to all, this program will be using a
“Pay What You Can” model.
The true cost of this event is $575 per participant.
For some, this suggested fee is a barrier for participation; others may be able to contribute more to make this opportunity possible for others. Please pay what you can to support the work of the Reform Jewish Youth Movement. Please select one of the following registration amounts.
Scholarship: Financial reasons should never be a barrier for teens to be able to attend and participate in URJ Camps & Immersives programs. Instant Scholarship can be accessed during registration.
Transportation: NFTY MAR is not currently offering transportation to and from this event. The registration cost for this event does NOT include transportation. However, a group of congregations is working together to fundraise the money to provide transportation for the NFTY MAR teens to attend this event.
Meals: All meals will meet dietary needs as much as possible including gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian. Please be sure to indicate your teen’s most up to date dietary needs in their registration. Each meal is served “kosher-style”, so there are “dairy meals” vs “meat meals” throughout the weekend, so there are no dairy and meat served in the same meals.
What is NFTY-MAR?
NFTY’s Mid Atlantic Region, NFTY-MAR, encompasses all reform synagogues from Maryland, eastern West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina excluding Charlotte. NFTY is the Reform Jewish Youth Movement that gives high school students an outlet to meet other Jewish teens in their area and explore their Jewish identity in a fun, welcoming and vibrant community.
Who can go to this event?
All 8-12th Grade Jewish teens in the Mid-Atlantic Region are welcome to join us for this monumental NFTY-MAR event. MAR is inclusive of NC (excluding Charlotte), Virginia, West Virginia, DC, and Maryland. Teens outside of MAR are welcome to join if they can coordinate their own transportation to the event.
What is the next step?
Registration is open NOW so make sure to sign yourself up, share the registration information with your friends, and get excited!! We hope many of you will join us 😊
In the meantime, how else can I get involved in NFTY-MAR?
We have our first in-person MAR events of the school year coming up soon! There will be 3 different sub regional events: South Day, East vs. West Day, and North Day
What are “sub regions”?
NFTY-MAR is traditionally “split up” into 4 subregions. These sub regional events act as a “taste of NFTY” type of event, as well as a bonding experience for local youth groups! Registration for our NFTY-MAR subregional day is available now and we would love to have our congregation’s teens show up at the event!

By Jess Becker and Zoe Terner A year ago this March, our lives changed forever. We marched on Capitol Hill, we walked out of our schools, we demanded that our representatives listen. For our friends in Parkland, for our siblings, for our children, for our teachers,...
As many people in NFTY know, if I hadn’t become a NFTY regional director, I would have become a music teacher. I have been incredibly lucky to have had opportunities to build meaningful relationships with students through teaching music in various capacities over the past decade. There is something so gratifying about facilitating other people’s personal growth.
NFTY Convention was a weekend full of fun, laughter, and new memories. Friendships were formed, community was built, and we were all inspired to lead. Perhaps most importantly, though, change was sparked in our Movement.
