Getting Ready

Welcome! We are very excited to welcome you to the NFTY Racial Justice Campaign Ambassador training. This training will prepare you to educate your peers and community about racial justice, partner with local activities, and run local programs, events and campaigns. It will help you take your passion and your ideas and turn them in to actions that help repair our world.

You can complete this training in one of four ways:

  • On Your Own with an Ambassador Training Mentor that we assign to you. The online training will take you 3-4 hours to complete with the help of a clergy member, educator, volunteer or URJ staff member who has a passion for social justice and has volunteered to help teen ambassadors get started. You can do the whole training in one sitting, or space it out over a few weeks.
  • On Your own with a Mentor from your own community. Choose a leader in your congregation, teacher, or other adult you know who has experience in racial justice work and have this person help you through the process. The full program will take you 3-4 hours to complete with your mentor spending 1-2 hours supporting you. You can do the whole training in one sitting, or space it out over a few weeks.
  • At a URJ program such as camp or a NFTY event. We are offering the NFTY Racial Justice Campaign Ambassador training at camp or NFTY. Looking for a summer program? Check out the program at URJ Kutz Camp!
  • With a class at your synagogue. Some synagogues are offering NFTY Racial Justice Campaign Ambassador training as part of a multi-session class. After the training the group can choose together how they will take local action.

The training is made up of videos, articles, forms, facebook posts and journal reflections to help you learn about racial justice work. You will do the learning on your own or with friends and will reflect about your learning in your online journal. If you are doing it on your own, you can work at your own pace.
