This year, the NFTY Study Theme is refugee resettlement, as it is a prominent global issue in today’s world. Judaism, especially Reform Judaism, commits itself to audacious hospitality and loving our neighbors, and as such it is our duty to understand the difficult refugee situations that exist all around the world, and do what we can to help. There are currently URJ youth programs, including Mitzvah Corps Pacific Northwest, and international progressive Jewish organizations, such as Netzer Olami, that are using their resources and connections to work towards solutions. We, as NFTY, want to diligently educate ourselves and others, partner with local, national, and international relief organizations, and spread awareness of the complexities and uniqueness of every ongoing refugee crisis, so we can help contribute to the success of these solutions.
