Spring Kallah 2024 FAQ
When and Where Is Spring Kallah?

We’ll be joining together at Camp Harlam in Kunkletown, PA from April 5-7th. The program begins at 4:30pm on Friday and ends at 11:30am Sunday.

Who Is Invited To Spring Kallah?

All Jewish teenagers from 8th-12th grade are invited! While our event is primarily targeted to Reform Jewish teens who reside in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and parts of New York, teens from all Jewish backgrounds regardless of affiliation or geography are encouraged to join us!

NFTY is the perfect place for any teen looking to be a part of a bigger Jewish community led by and for teenagers!

How Do I Get To Spring Kallah?

Buses will pick up and drop off participants in Cherry Hill, NJ, Newtown PA, Paramus NJ, Aberdeen NJ, Hillsborough NJ, Pittsburgh, PA, and Lancaster PA. Exact locations and times can be found in the registration form.

Participants flying or taking a train to attend the event may ride buses from any of the planned bus stops, but NFTY will not be able to provide transportation to those stops or be responsible for teens before or after they arrive at our bus stops.

Participants may be dropped off or picked up by adults. Participants MAY NOT drive themselves.

What Happens at Spring Kallah?

We will begin the weekend with mixers and opportunities to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. We’ll celebrate Shabbat together, have a big social action program, a talent show, a live game show, and a silent auction fundraising for a local charity. There will be lots of free time to enjoy camp, relax, or catch up on homework. And of course, we’ll spend the weekend building relationships that will last a lifetime!

What Should I Pack?

A full packing list will be sent out shortly before the event, but expect to pack toiletries, towels, and linens or a sleeping bag. Camp Harlam does not provide this for participants.

What Role Do Adults Have In the Event? Can Clergy/Youth Advisers Attend?

Spring Kallah is overseen by the Regional Mentors from each of the host regions who work year-round supporting our teen leaders. RAs who are NFTY and Camp Harlam alumni will live in the bunks with the teens and act as role models throughout the event. A few clergy and youth advisors have also been invited to spend the weekend supporting the teens leaders in their programming and as support to participants who may require pastoral care.

Any youth advisor, educator, or clergy who would like to attend for any part of the weekend is welcome to email nftyger@urj.org or nftypar@urj.org for more information!

Will There Be A Nurse On Staff? Is Camp Accessible?

A nurse will be present for the entire event. They will assist with dispensing medication and be available for any medical needs. Please make sure that if you intend to take over-the-counter medication during the event that permission is given on the event registration form.

Camp and our NFTY team are equipped to support teens with various accessibility needs and always strive to make NFTY a space inclusive for all Jewish teenagers. To best support teen’s individual needs, please indicate how best our event can accommodate them in the registration form, or reach out to nftyger@urj.org or nftypar@urj.org so our team can be in touch with you directly.
